The Lake Show starred their seven-game, 13-day road trip with a lucky break against the New Orleans Hornets. Out in Louisiana the Lakers won 101-95 behind Pau Gasol's season best 34. The Spaniard was a bull in all statistical categories, doubling up with 10 boards, while also dropping three dimes and swatting one shot. Pau was so powerful, he was damn near perfect going for 13 for 17 from the field, only missing one out of nine charity buckets. Bryant-who had spurred Gasol's power game on-also clicked with an electric, 32 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. The Lakers two stars where just too much for the talent of New Orleans who where without Okafor and former champion Laker, Trevor Ariza. They did have top point guard, Chris Paul however, as the quarterback, bowled out a super 21 points and 15 assists as he tried to guard his home from the Lakers extermination. The Hornets may have a hive of activity however, but the Lakers are king. They hope to continue buzzing through the weeks worth of games spread over a fortnight. TIM DAVID HARVEY.
